Audience Builder (OnQ) – Querying Olytics Fields
How to Query using Olytics Category and Tag
Step 1: Decide on which version you want to use.
Version 1: Olytics attributes Category, Tag or any other custom Olytics fields that were passed to Omeda were stored within the Olytics (O) query field. Also included in the query field are date range, action count, individual web domain visits.
Version 2: Omeda has enhanced how you can query Olytics attributes in Audience Builder. Now, each individual Olytics attribute field is it’s own query field with it’s own date range and action count.
What are the differences? The main difference is action count.
Version 1: When action count is selected, the count only applies to the number of page views (articles) customer had within the date range specified.
The action count does not apply to the number of page views where the category or tag value(s) were present. i.e. The customer only needs to have a minimum of 1 page view with the specified category or tag value. These results provide interest but not necessarily intent.
Example query:
All customers who have an action count of 5 or more with the date range of last 15 days where the page view (article) has a Tag of of data driven marketing. If the customer has (5) page views in the last 15 days and 1 of them has a tag of data driven marketing, then they would be selected.
Version 2: Using action count and date range at the individual attribute level will return a more focused results. In the same example query above, the customer is only selected IF they have 5 page views (articles) with that tag value in the last 15 days. These results return a set of customers with a higher probability of intent.
Another advantage is each Oltyics Attribute has it’s own (Exclude, And, Or) operator.
Step 2: Enter a date range or static date in the Date Filter (this field is required)
Step 3: Select an Action Count from the drop down (default is ‘Any’). Now it’s important to
Step 4: Search for the category/tag you’d like to target
Note: In order to query actions on a specific category/tag within a specified date range, you’ll need the Olytics Category and Olytics Tag skittles configured in your Audience Builder.
Version 2:
Searching for a single category/tag value
If you choose a single category/tag, the action count and date range will apply to this category/tag value only.
For example, if you’ve selected an action count that is > or = 5 and have a single tag, it will look for anyone who has a total of 5 or more hits on this exact tag, ‘Audience Development’.
Search for Multiple Category/Tag values
If you choose more than one category/tag value, the action count will work with ‘or’ logic.
To search for multiple values, each search value will need to be separated with a comma. Search values ccan have a * wildcard at the beginning and/or end of each value.
For example, if you’ve selected an action count that is > or = 5 and have selected multiple tags, it will look for anyone who has a total of 5 or more hits to any combination of these selected tags.

Query Any Visit vs. Same Visit
First some context. The articles, blogs, whitepaper, post on your site normally have meta data (key words) associated to them. This meta data is passed to Omeda as Category and Tags values. Every page view (article) is store as a separate “visit”. When you build a query and it has Category and Tag attributes, then you have the option to enforce a same visit or any visit option.
- When you use “Same Visit”, then the values from Category and the values from Tag have to be from the same page view (article).
Query Example :
Category = Sports, Tag = Football.
With “same visit”, the page view (article) must have both values present.
- When you use “Any Visit”, then the values from Category and Tag do not need to be from the same visit.
Query Example :
Category = Sports, Tag = Football.
With “any visit” the category and tag value can be spread over various page views (articles). One article could have been category = Sports , Tag = injuries and the other article could have been Category = Advertiser, Tag = Football.
How to Query on Olytics URL
You can query on the direct URL visited or part of the URL using a wildcard within the Olytics skittle.
TIP: If you are searching for the full URL or part of a URL that contains a dash (-), make sure to replace it with a double dash (–). The URL field is a text box and with any omeda text box search, a single dash will act like a string search.
Example search on Wildcard:

Example search on Full URL:

How to Query on Olytics URL Query Parameters
What is a URL query parameter? a parameter is any value to the left of the question mark within your URL for example utm_campaign, utm_source etc.

Example URL:
Olytics has always been capturing the full URL including the query parameters since Omeda CDP script was added to your sites, but you were only able to query the base URL in Audience Builder – now you can query the URL parameters.
