Odyssey – Email Conditions

Conditions in Odyssey allow users to create different paths within a voyage based on an audience member’s interaction with an Email element. There are two types of conditions that are available after an Email element is placed on the canvas, triggered conditions and delayed conditions.

Triggered Conditions

Triggered email conditions can be selected in the connection immediately following an Email element by clicking the connecting arrow. On the right-hand side, users can then specify whether an audience member should advance from the Email “On Send”, “On Open”, or “On Click”. If “On Send” is selected audience members will advance immediately after the email is sent. If “On Open” is selected, the voyage creator can select how long the voyage should be checking for email opens, and, within that time frame, audience members will advance immediately after opened. If “On Click” is selected, the voyage creator can select one or more links and the time frame during which link clicks should be checked. If a link click occurs during that time frame, the audience member will advance immediately.

Delayed Conditions

A delayed email condition can be selected within the connection following an Email and a Wait element. The multiple delayed conditions can be selected here resulting in the following variations:

  • Opened + Clicked : if this option is selected, the voyage creator can select one or more links and, after the wait period, if the audience member has Opened and Clicked a selected link, they will advance to the next element.
  • Opened + Not Clicked : if this option is selected the voyage creator can select one or more links and, after the wait period, if the audience member has Opened but not Clicked a selected link, they will advance to the next element.
  • Not Opened : if this option is selected, audience members will only advance if they have not opened the email after the wait period. The voyage creator can also choose to select one or more preceding email elements to check at this time. In this way, audience members can be advanced if they have not opened all of the selected email elements.
  • Opened + Clicked AND Opened + Not Clicked : if these options are selected, all audience members who opened the email will advance to the next element. The voyage creator can also choose to select one or more preceding email elements to check at this time. In this way, audience members can be advanced if they opened any of the selected email elements.
  • Opened + Not Clicked AND Not Opened : if these options are selected, all audience members who did not click the selected links after the wait period, even those who did not open the email, will advance to the next element.
  • Opened + Clicked AND Not Opened : if these options are selected, audience members who did not opened will advance after the wait period, along with those who clicked a selected link.
